Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for concerns to be asked about his future following a further heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the club's poorest run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory naturally but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted known weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” Jones said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a spell such as this with performances this poor.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
