England Coach Southee Unsure on The Ashes Availability
The bowler's most recent Test for the Kiwis was versus the English side in the final month of 2024.
England's bowling consultant Tim Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be during the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The ex- New Zealand seamer is expected to be available for the opening match because of his involvement in the ILT20 competition, which starts on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, 36, took up a role as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the summer after taking 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.
Speaking as the English team for the opening of three Twenty20 games against the Kiwis was named, he said of his availability: "We are still evaluating that at the present time.
"We'll see the outcome over the next little while."
England pace icon Stuart Broad had stated the Australian team as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over what to expect during the contest, which begins on November 21.
"In my view there's ever a bad Aussie side," he remarked.
"The team's attention is firmly on our own objectives. I think the quality of [the English] team that's going out to the host country is excellent.
"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not only [are|do] fans from both nations eagerly anticipate it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
However, before England head to Perth for the first Ashes match, they face New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on Saturday.
