Ex- Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors report that a former physician has been charged with committing assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

The charging documents outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
