Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with notable success and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
