"The climate extremes we have outlined are not forecasts, but they are possible," said the professor who directed the research. "The UK has been planning lacking the frameworks to assess extreme possibilities. We've now provided policymakers what they need to get ready for future conditions they pray never occur, but can’t afford to ignore."
A Range of Harsh Climate Possibilities
A further series of worst-case scenarios maps the potential extent of severe conditions between now and the close of the 2100s. These indicate that thermometer readings could soar in certain periods by up to 6C above average, while rainfall could be three times standard measurements.
