The former Liverpool manager says coming back to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that returning someday remains an option. Klopp, post a game-changing nine-season tenure which brought continental glory and ending the club's long wait for three decades, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed the league title last season, though countless followers holding him in high esteem would embrace the idea that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I said I won't manage any other side on English soil. Therefore should it be the Reds...yes. It's plausible.”

“At 58 years old, so the choice could be mine down the line, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I can just see what the future brings.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about what circumstances would need to occur to bring him back to the touchline, he confessed he isn't eager to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing during downpours for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for interviews four times, three times a week or constant media duties each week.

“The locker room isn't missed per se, however, dining out with the team enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. Success was frequent so there was often great spirits in the building. I still have the captain's chuckle in my ear to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, crediting him for the adjustments that took the title last term. They've been defeated four in a row in every contest after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the notion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. Ekitike, superb talent. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. You don’t have to worry over the club, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, along with the consequences for the team. Jota died tragically in a vehicle collision together with his sibling in July.

“Can you substitute a person like him? It’s not about the player himself, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the team environment without him in it. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. It was an incredible shock for his teammates as well. No one within the club will ever use it as an excuse though it's a fact. Being in that space which he filled completely. Handling this individually is challenging. Unbearable.”
